CNN - Style Origins

2020 Emmy Winner - Outstanding Graphic Design and Art Direction

Style Origins was a passion project that originated with the idea of expanding design and animation to more verticals within CNN. CNN Style was the perfect platform to create a series full of curiosity, interesting facts and beautiful, well intended design.

Throughout time, human beings have created objects and concepts so powerful that they have come to both represent and inspire generations. They are often incorporated in our daily lives and become timeless icons. The Style Origins series is a fresh look at the histories of some of these creations across design and fashion. The four topics include the red carpet, the pride flag, the fashion show and red lipstick. All seemingly simple ideas that went on to revolutionize industries, became political platforms and changed our perspectives. We explore how these ideas represent our human nature, our need to create, and our need to belong.

Below is the first episode, The Red Carpet, which set the tone for the rest of the series, done by myself.
